Bad Day
Sebenarnya tidak ada hari yang buruk, hanya saja hari ini peruntungan sedang menjauh dari saya. Waktu istirahat siang saya bergegas ke perpustakaan daerah untuk meminjam beberapa buku. Niatnya begini, seharian besok saya akan bermalas-malasan dirumah mumpung hari libur, dan saya akan menghabiskan waktu saya dengan membaca buku. Cukup lama saya berputar-putar di rak novel untuk mencari buku, bukan mudah menemukan buku yang di maksud disini sebab buku nya cukup (memang) berantakkan. Dan secara tidak sengaja saya menemukan “Larung” novel karangan Ayu Utami. Sebuah novel lanjutan dari cerita Saman yang jauh sebelumnya pernah saya baca. Larung bukanlah novel baru, tapi saya suka semua buku hasil tulisan Ayu. Kemudian saya lanjutkan pencarian di rak lainnya, dan saya menemukan kumpulan prosa dari penulis wanita Indonesia yang menurut saya punya karakter yang kuat. Disitu ada tulisan Fira Basuki, Dewi Lestari, Diah Jenar, dan tentu juga si Ayu Utami. See!! How... (more)

no more effort of thought
one of my cousins just had another baby. i didn't even know they were pregnant. and my other cousin is having their first one this february coming. i can hardly believe how many people are just now adding to my already big family clan. i remember family reunions already being packed with people, kids running around, now more babies. sometimes i think it's so strange that being so far away in another country, i won't be able to see them grow up or see them often or see them at all while they're younger. i already have 2 godsons that i hardly ever see, and a bunch of nieces and nephews that i am unable to keep track of, let alone remember how old each one is. as a child, i just vaguely remember names of godparents who were hardly ever around. i never knew them at all, except for like the occasional present on christmases or my birthdays. they were like non-relatives, nonexistent people. stranger now that i think about it that i have become one of these absentee aunts and uncles...
